Our family has roots in farming. Over the past one hundred years, our families have raised dairy cattle, beef cattle and crops.
In 2000, we transitioned to raising sheep and hay. We chose Romney sheep because of their temperament and dual purpose (fiber and meat).
Dorset sheep were added later to provide market lambs for our children's 4-H projects.
We currently maintain both flocks and focus on producing quality fleeces, roving and yarns to fiber artists, as well as a few market lambs to 4-Hers.
We are proud of the fleeces that our sheep produce. We enter regional fleece shows and compete against other Romney breeders for 1st prize!
We love our recessive Romneys!
What does "recessive" mean? Briefly, the white color in sheep is dominant and colored wool is recessive - meaning that color is harder to show in a sheep's wool. We have several recessive ewes and rams which produce lambs with unique color pattens like the one above.
